Is Hash Stronger Than Weed?

Is Hash Stronger Than Weed?

Aug 10, 2023 Stephane Esseiva

The CBD industry has done a great job correcting outdated and erroneous notions about the cannabis plant. Nonetheless, a good deal of confusion remains. Many people, for instance, are uncertain of the difference between weed and hash. Is hash stronger than weed? is a question that comes up frequently.

In the following paragraphs, we resolve some common misconceptions regarding weed and hash so that you can make informed decisions as you navigate your way through the rapidly expanding hemp and cannabis market.

Is CBD Hash a Drug?

No, CBD hash isn't an illicit drug. While it's a type of a cannabis product that is made from the trichomes of the hemp plant, it contains high levels of CBD (cannabidiol) and very low levels of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), the psychoactive compound found in cannabis.

CBD hash is not considered to be a drug because it does not produce any psychoactive effects. It is commonly used for its medicinal benefits, such as pain relief, anxiety relief, and sleep improvement.

However, it is important to note that CBD hash is still a cannabis product, and is considered a illicit drug in some countries. It is important to check the laws in your country before buying CBD hash.

Which is stronger: hash or weed?

Generally speaking, hash is stronger than weed—particularly if it’s high quality. The quality and strength of hash will vary depending on how it’s made and which strain of cannabis is used. The US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) notes that a single drop of hash oil is roughly equivalent to one marijuana joint.

Because it’s essentially a more concentrated form of weed, those new to hashish need to be careful when consuming it for the first time. Depending on where you acquire it from, it may contain far more THC and CBD than you’re usually used to.

This underscores the importance of purchasing hash from a reputable source; if you don’t, you’ll have no idea of the quantity of THC, CBD, and other active cannabis ingredients.

Of course, in the UK, traditional THC hash is an illicit drug, and we don’t condone or recommend its use or the use of any product that contains illegal levels of THC such as hash joints. At HempHash, our CBD hash is made from industrial hemp plants, is completely non-psychoactive and therefore contains no more than 1mg THC per finished packaged product and isn’t designed for the administration of a controlled drug to a human being or animal.

While we don’t agree with the usage of THC for psychoactive purposes, we understand that it can have medical benefits in certain situations & this article, written by a third party, is intended to be of an informative nature only. You can read more about this here.

How is hashish made?

Hashish, which originated in the Middle East, is made by the people there from the resin produced by cannabis trichomes. Sometimes called “crystals,” trichomes are the white, hair-like glands that appear on the flowers of a mature female cannabis plant. The importance of cannabis trichomes can’t be overstated: they make the resin in which THC, CBD, and other major compounds are located.

The people that make hash begin by separating and isolating the trichomes from the rest of the plant material. This can be done by hand, sieve, machine, and even ice water. HempHash uses advanced extraction methods that limit Delta-9 THC whilst maintaining all of the other essential and non-controlled cannabinoids and terpenes.

There are several different types of hash.

Bubble hash

In the case of “bubble hash,” the isolated trichomes are frozen, dried, and pressed - usually into bricks known as “cakes.” At that point, the hash is ready to be consumed, which can be done using a pipe or cigarette. It is also routinely consumed in edible form (cookies, brownies, etc.).

Dry sift hash

Dry sift hash is made by filtering dried cannabis flower buds through a sieve. Doing so separates the resin glands from the unwanted plant matter. Good dry sift hash will have been put through the filtration process again and again until the resin resembles powder. It is then either pressed or simply added to marijuana to give it an extra punch.

Appearance and texture are reliable indicators of good-quality hash. Dry sift hash is ordinarily a reddish brown colour, although it’s not unusual for it to appear yellow.

Hand-rubbed hashish is darker in colour, from dark brown to black. Hash should not be green, as that reflects the presence of excessive plant matter.

Pay close attention to texture. High-quality hash is solid, dense, and somewhat sticky to the touch (not too sticky). It may be crumbly or oily as well. Extreme dryness is a sign of improper storage.

Sure. CBD hash can come in a variety of flavours, depending on the strain of cannabis that it is made from and the method of extraction.

Black CBD

Black CBD hash is a type of CBD hash that has a dark, almost black colour. It's made from a variety of different strains of cannabis, but it is typically made from Indica strains. Black CBD hash has a strong, earthy flavour that is reminiscent of soil or mushrooms. It is also known for its high levels of CBD, typically ranging from 20% to 30%.

Black CBD hash is a popular choice for individuals who are looking for a strong, flavourful CBD product. It is also a good choice for those who are looking for a product with high levels of CBD.

    Hash oil

Hash oil, or liquid hash, is made from the same resin as traditional hash, though it is typically extracted from the plant using a solvent such as high-proof alcohol or glycerin. The colour and consistency of hash oil vary considerably.

What flavour does CBD Hash Have?

    • Citrus: This flavour is often associated with hash made from Sativa strains of cannabis. It has a sharp, refreshing taste that is reminiscent of lemons or oranges.
    • Earthy: This flavour is often associated with hash made from Indica strains of cannabis. It has a rich, earthy taste that is reminiscent of soil or mushrooms.
    • Spicy: This flavour is often associated with hash made from Hashish strains of cannabis. It has a sharp, peppery taste that is reminiscent of black pepper or chilli peppers.
    • Sweet: This flavour is often associated with hash made from Afghani strains of cannabis. It has a smooth, mellow taste that is reminiscent of honey or maple syrup.

In addition to these common flavours, there are also a variety of more exotic flavours of CBD hash available, such as:

    • Chocolate: This flavour is made by adding cocoa powder to CBD hash. It has a rich, chocolatey taste that is perfect for chocolate lovers.
    • Vanilla: This flavour is made by adding vanilla extract to CBD hash. It has a smooth, vanilla flavour that is perfect for those who enjoy sweet treats.
    • Coffee: This flavour is made by adding coffee grounds to CBD hash. It has a rich, coffee flavour that is perfect for those who need a caffeine boost.
    • Fruit: This flavour is made by adding dried fruit to CBD hash. It has a sweet, fruity flavour that is perfect for those who enjoy a fruity treat.

Measuring the strength difference between cannabis hash and flower

Whether you’re consuming hash or marijuana, the strength is usually determined using the same metrics: THC and CBD levels. As you probably know, THC is the primary psychoactive chemical in cannabis sativa and CBD is the primary non-psychoactive chemical along with CBD and terpenes, THC dictates how different strains affect you.

The majority of popular cannabis strains weigh in at 15-20% THC and 1 - 4 % CBD. Conversely, hash regularly boasts over 30% THC and up to 12% CBD. One 2016 study found that CBD levels in hash differed significantly depending on the country of origin—anywhere from 0.78% to 12.79%.

In that sense, hash is far more potent than flower.

What is the strongest form of hash?

No one type of hash stands above the rest in terms of potency. It depends largely on 1) the THC and CBD content of the chosen strain and 2) the extraction technique. Better extraction leads to more refined resin, which in turn leads to more potent hash. The idea is to remove as much superfluous plant material as possible (and for us, the Delta 9 THC too). For novice extractors, this can be challenging.

It’s worth noting that younger hash—meaning hash derived from less mature cannabis plants—tends to contain greater concentrations of cannabinoids. Moreover, since cannabinoids break down over time, fresh hash is stronger than hash that has been stored for an extended period.

How do levels of terpenes differ from hash to weed and flower?

Like other hemp or cannabis concentrates, hash also contains a fair amount of additional compounds.

Most notable among these are terpenes, which contribute to a cannabis product’s general effects. When it comes to hash, their quantity is variable.

Terpenes are the aromatic compounds that lend marijuana its unmistakable scent and taste. Researchers have found that converting hemp or cannabis flower to hashish promotes the occurrence of an obscure terpene that has since been dubbed “hashishene.” Hashishene is likely behind the unique earthy aroma given off by pure Moroccan hash.

What are Hash CBD's effects and benefits on the brain?

CBD hash is a cannabis product that contains high levels of CBD and low levels of THC. It has a number of effects on the brain, both directly and indirectly.

Directly, CBD hash resin interacts with the endocannabinoid system, which is a network of receptors throughout the body that plays a role in regulating a variety of functions, including pain, mood, and appetite. CBD hash can bind to these receptors and modulate their activity, which may potentially lead to a variety of effects, such as pain relief, anxiety relief, and improved sleep.

Indirectly, CBD hash can also affect the brain by interacting with other neurotransmitters, such as serotonin and dopamine. These neurotransmitters play a role in mood, sleep, and pain perception, and CBD hash can help to regulate their activity.

Overall, the effects of CBD hash on the brain are complex and still being studied. However, it is clear that CBD hash has the potential to be a safe and effective treatment for a variety of conditions.

Here are some of the specific effects of CBD hash may have on the brain:

    • Reduce inflammation: CBD hash can aid the reduction of inflammation in the brain, which may help to improve cognitive function and potentially protect against neurodegenerative diseases.
    • Increase neurogenesis: CBD hash may increase the growth of new neurons in the brain, which may potentially aid the improvement of memory and learning.
    • Reduce anxiety: CBD hash may potentially aid the reduction of anxiety by binding to the GABA receptors in the brain. GABA is a neurotransmitter that plays a role in calming the brain and reducing anxiety.
    • Improve sleep: CBD hash may aid improving sleep by regulating the production of melatonin, a hormone that helps to regulate the sleep-wake cycle.
    • Reduce pain: CBD hash may aid the reduction of pain by binding to the TRPV1 receptors in the brain. TRPV1 receptors are involved in the perception of pain, and CBD hash may potentially help to reduce their activity.

It is important to note that these are not medical claims or proven claims but some of the potential effects that CBD hash may have on the brain. More scientific research is needed to fully understand how CBD hash works and its full range of effects.

Additional Potential Benefits of CBD Hash

    • Reduces inflammation: CBD hash may aid the reduction an individual's inflammation in the brain, which may help to improve cognitive function and protect against neurodegenerative diseases.
    • Improves sleep: CBD hash may improve your sleep by regulating the production of melatonin, a hormone that helps to regulate the sleep-wake cycle.
    • Reduces pain: CBD hash may reduce pain by binding to the TRPV1 receptors in the brain. TRPV1 receptors are involved in the perception of pain, and CBD hash may aid the reduction of their activity.
    • Effects on blood pressure: CBD hash has been shown to have a stabilizing effect on blood pressure, both in people with high blood pressure and those with a normal heart rate.
