Full Spectrum/Broad Spectrum; why is distillate preferred over CBD isolate?

To extract cannabidiol (CBD) from hemp there are four methods which result in either crude, paste, isolate or distillate.  The distillation process, which is the most popular extraction method for CBD, maintains a broad spectrum of cannabinoids which is essential in comparison to CBD isolate which simply isolates an individual cannabinoid and completely removes all other naturally occurring cannabis compounds.

A high calibre full spectrum distillation process maintains some naturally occurring cannabis compounds such as fats, terpenoids and flavonoids but it does not isolate an individual cannabinoid.  The broad-spectrum distillation process requires the end product to be slightly more refined and completely free of any trace levels of THC.  The broad-spectrum distillation process tends to remove most naturally occurring cannabis compounds (but these tend to be added back into the final product), however the broad-spectrum distillation process does not isolate individual cannabinoids.

The isolation process completely removes all naturally occurring cannabis compounds and isolates an individual cannabinoid and is essentially pure as one compound.

What are our thoughts?

Our bodies have an endocannabinoid system (ECS) which contains CB1 & CB2 receptors. When we take a CBD product such as CBD oil, the cannabinoids bind to our CB1 or CB2 receptors and our ECS directs the cannabinoids to the area of our body that they are needed.  Terpenoids play an important roll in this process and serve to “point” our CB1 & CB2 receptors in the correct direction within our body.  Without naturally occurring cannabis compounds such as terpenes this process is not as effective, and a person would need to use much higher amounts of an isolated cannabinoid to obtain the same efficacy.

This is why we feel it is so important to choose a CBD product, albeit CBD oil, or CBD gummies that contain a high calibre and pesticide free organic distillate so that your body can get the most of your CBD product.
